Gears 5: Hivebusters is a downloadable expansion pack for Gears 5 that follows the origin story of Scorpio Squad, an ad-hoc team of commandos who embark on suicide mission to combat the threat of the Swarm by inflitrating and sabotaging their hives through the use of lethal toxin.
I worked on the project from October 2019 until September 2020, shortly before I started working at The Initiative on Perfect Dark.
During that time I worked as a Gameplay Designer. Below are some highlights of my work:
The Hunt
• Worked with engineering to update existing slide tech to allow for curves, split paths and hazards while sliding in Chapter 5: The Hunt
• Designed and collaborated with Environment art to create the numerous interactive destructible actors featured during Chapter 5: The Hunt including:
     • Shootable, destructible hazardous Rock Stalagmites during slide moments
     • Shootable, destructible lava cover that spouts Lava when its cap is shot off
     • Shootable destructible, Igneous Rock Stalagmite Cover during combat
     • Scripted, animated, shootable destructible pillar the player shoots to initiate the Snatcher fight and free Hana 
Falling Stone Pillars
• Created the shootable, destructible falling cover Stone Pillars (low cost re-skins of the Gears 5 Ice Spears/Glass Trees) featured in multiple chapters
Cryogenic Climate Stabilizers
• Collaborated with Artists and Animators to create the shootable Cryo Climate Stabilizers featured in Chapter 2: Sanctum
Lava Stalactite
• Worked with Level Design, VFX and AI to create the shootable, destructible Lava Stalactites featured during the Flock fight in Chapter 3: Into the Fire
